The black bear (Ursus americanus) is the only species of bear found in Michigan (MDNR). Some of us feel fortunate to live where bears live, but if you are a beekeeper and live where bears live, you need to take some precautions. Bears love honey. (Remember Yogi???) With a good bear fence, you can protect your apiary from hungry bears.
